'Nieudegat Gites' are situated in the peaceful bourg of Simeyrols, 3 km from the pretty village of Carlux where you can obtain essential supplies of freshly baked bread (pain) from the bakers (boulangerie), cakes (gateaux) from the confectioners (patisserie), groceries (epicerie) from the general store (magasin), meat (viande) from the butchers (boucherie), cafe/bar and take in some local sight-seeing around the village. There is an ancient washing pond, church and part of the old castle wall.
As you can see from the map the Dordogne River is just 6 km south at St Julien de Lampon for canoeing and sunbathing and restaurants.
The nearest main town of Sarlat (Sarlat-la-Caneda) is 13 km to the west, with its bustling enormous Saturday Market, shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, church and cinema and late night disco, set in narrow medieval streets with restored Gothic and Renaissance town houses.
Nearest airport is Bergerac approx 50 miles. Car hire is available. Good train service from Bergerac to Sarlat at approx 11 euros single for an adult an 7 euros for under 26 years of age.
Taxis available from Sarlat to Simeyrols approx 20 euros.
Bordeaux is approx 2 hours drive, the airport 2 and a half , from Simeyrols. Car hire is available or take the train from Bordeaux via Bergerac to Sarlat.
Limoges airport is 2 hours by car.
Rodez is just over an hour away by car.
